RECOVERY -- The Philadelphia District intends to award a Purchase Order for the removal of a dilapidated timber jetty located within Cedar Creek at the confluence of the Mispillion River in Slaughter Beach, DE. This project entails investigation via diving, removal and disposal of the remains of the old south jetty in accordance with the specifications in the Scope of Work The former Mispillion Inlet South Jetty is located at the confluence of Cedar Creek and the Mispillion Rivers near the old Mispillion Light in Delaware. The 80-plus year old structure is approximately 1100 feet in length. The wooden structure consists of timber piles and timber cross members. Some of the timber piles are only visible at low water. During higher tide stages the structure is not visible resulting in a serious safety hazard to boating traffic.
