Block Pruning Services

The Municipality of Clarington is soliciting bids for solicitation number CL2026-43 to obtain professional block pruning services across various locations in Courtice, Bowmanville, and Newcastle. The scope of work requires a qualified company to provide all labor, materials, supervision, and equipment for pruning and provisional items, including stump removal to 30 cm below grade and full site restoration. All work must be performed according to International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) best management practices and completed within eight weeks of the contract award and purchase order issuance. The contract will be awarded to the lowest compliant bidder who can demonstrate the necessary experience through three municipal references from the last five years. Strict certification and safety standards are mandatory, requiring an ISA certified arborist for on-site supervision and 444B utility arborist or ISA Utility Specialist certification for work near energized power lines. Bidders must provide proof of training in aerial rescue, chainsaw and chipper operation, traffic control, and emergency first aid. Financial and legal requirements include a bid deposit of at least 10 percent of the total bid, continuous insurance coverage naming the Municipality as an additional insured, and WSIB compliance. Subcontractors are permitted provided the general contractor completes at least 25 percent of the work and subcontractors possess three years of similar municipal experience.
