The Idaho Transportation Department has submitted a request for a brand name exemption to purchase Beechcraft King Air Aircraft, allowing the agency to specify this particular brand exclusively in their procurement process. This exemption, which is subject to the discretion of the Department of Purchasing (DOP) Administrator, aims to prevent bids for alternative or substitute aircraft, ensuring the agency acquires a specific model that they deem necessary for their operations. To promote transparency, the DOP is inviting suppliers to review the exemption request and submit relevant information that could support or challenge the claim that only the Beechcraft King Air can meet the agency’s needs. Suppliers can provide their input through the designated submission channels before the response deadline of June 3, 2025. The contract associated with this procurement is valued between 7 million and 8 million dollars and is intended for the State of Idaho, specifically the Idaho Transportation Department. The solicitation was posted on May 29, 2025, with the primary point of contact being the DOP Administrator via email. Suppliers interested in participating or providing supporting information are encouraged to review the detailed request and submit their responses through the Idaho procurement portal prior to the specified deadline, as the decision on granting the brand name exemption remains at the sole discretion of the DOP Administrator.

The Idaho Transportation Department has requested a brand name exemption for the purchase of Beechcraft King Air Aircraft. If approved, a brand name exemption allows an agency to specify one brand name only in a procurement and to eliminate bids for any alternate or substitute property. Brand name exemptions are at the discretion of the DOP Administrator. In the interest of transparency, DOP is offering suppliers the opportunity to review this requested exemption and provide relevant information. The decision remains discretionary, and suppliers have no right to appeal the Administrator’s decision. Suppliers are invited to provide information that may help the DOP Administrator make a decision regarding this brand name exemption. Please review the Agency’s request, attached in the Buyer Attachment section of IPRO. You are invited to provide information that may help support or contradict the claim that the named brand is the only brand that can meet the agency’s business needs. Submit your information by attaching it in the Supplier Attachments section of IPRO and submitting your response or emailing contact@example.gov. To be considered by the Administrator, all information must be submitted prior to the closing date and time listed in IPRO.
