This contract is for the procurement of hot weather desert steel toe boots in two color variations: Tan and Sage. The agreement specifies minimum and maximum quantities for each color over a base year and four option terms; Tan boots require a minimum of 19,551 pairs and a maximum of 97,755 pairs, while Sage boots require a minimum of 15,960 pairs and a maximum of 79,800 pairs. The boots are to be manufactured in compliance with specified Weinbrenner styles or their equivalents, with a production lead time of 90 days following award. Deliveries are designated for locations at DDJC and DDSP. The procurement is conducted as a HUBZone Set-Aside, emphasizing participation from businesses in historically underutilized business zones, and will be awarded based on Best Value procedures considering product demonstration models and past performance. Only one total award covering the entire quantity will be made. The solicitation was to be posted online via the DLA DIBBS portal by mid-September 2011, with electronic notifications emphasized. The contract also complies with defense acquisition regulations that require clothing and textile items, as well as specialty metals, to be sourced domestically unless specific exceptions apply, adhering to statutes such as the Berry Amendment.
