Boulder Canyon Trail Repair Project

Boulder County Parks and Open Space Department is soliciting proposals under solicitation BID-326-26 for the repair and reconstruction of a damaged segment of the Boulder Canyon Trail and its associated creekside slope protection wall. Located downstream of the intersection of HW 119 and Fourmile Canyon Drive, the project addresses significant scour that created a subsurface void beneath the trail surface and compromised the slope containment structure. The scope of work includes constructing a grouted boulder slope protection wall, restoring the trail approach to its pre-scour condition, reclaiming disturbed areas with native seed mixes, and ensuring the protection of two City of Boulder high pressure water lines. To maintain public access during construction, the contractor is required to operate a courtesy shuttle for pedestrians and cyclists. The project is expected to begin between December 2026 and January 2027. Award decisions will be based on the best value to the County and the determination of whether the firm is a responsible contractor via a Qualification Statement. Requirements include the submission of bid, performance, and payment bonds each equal to 100 percent of the proposed cost, as well as compliance with Davis-Bacon prevailing wage documentation and ADA standards. Technical specifications align with AASHTO, CDOT, and USDOT/FHWA guidelines. Final acceptance is contingent upon a joint inspection by the contractor and engineer and the completion of a deficiency punch list. Invoices must be submitted by the 15th of each month for work performed in the prior month.
