ShareGate has been in use for about two years. It was initially used to perform small individual migrations to SPO. The SPO full migration began in the Fall of 2021 and is in progress with the bulk of the migration expected to be completed by the end of 2022. If ShareGate is not renewed it will halt the migration project that is currently in full swing. This will impact the Department's ability to migrate from SharePoint on-premises to SPO. Areas impacted will be connectED, share.ed.gov, and fsa.share.ed.gov. Actions, if any, the agency may take to remove or overcome any barriers that led to the restricted consideration before any subsequent acquisition for supplies and services is made. It is the intention of FSA to continue to use the Sharegate products and services outlined in this Brand Name Justification. If ED's business requirements change in the future, FSA will conduct new market research to determine if there are potential vendors that could support ED's new business requirements, if it is economically feasible and risk is acceptable.
