Bridge Deck Repairs on I-5

Caltrans District 11 in San Diego is overseeing a bridge deck maintenance project involving 15 bridges along Interstate 5 in San Diego County. The scope of work includes the application and placement of Methacrylate and Polyester Concrete overlays, the replacement of joint seals, and the cold planing of existing bridge decks followed by the placement of Hot Mix Asphalt-A at 14 locations. Upon completion of these activities, the bridge decks will be re-striped. Additionally, the project includes specific beneath-the-deck girder repairs at one location on the 17th Street ramp overcrossing. The project, identified as EA 11-2N236 and PID 1124000369, has been determined to be categorically exempt under CEQA Class 1 and categorically excluded under NEPA authorities, as the work consists of the repair and maintenance of existing structures without expanding their use.
