Bridge Preventive Maintenance Work

Caltrans District 8 is implementing a Bridge Preventive Maintenance project across 15 various locations along Interstate 15 and Interstate 40 in San Bernardino County, California. The primary objective is to preserve the structural integrity of these bridges through economic preventive maintenance strategies, thereby delaying or minimizing the need for major rehabilitation or replacement. All work is to be performed within Caltrans right-of-way on paved surfaces, specifically the roadway surfaces and bridge decks, with no expansion of existing use. The scope of work includes the application of polyester concrete overlays, installation of joint seals, patch spalling, and the repaving of bridge approach asphalt from the abutment to approximately 30 feet away. Additionally, the project requires the installation of pavement transition tapers on roadways adjacent to bridges receiving overlays. This project is classified as a Notice of Exemption under Class 1(d) Section 15301, as it involves the repair and maintenance of existing public structures.
