USAID/Nigeria plans to negotiate a sole-source contract with Chemonics International, Inc. for up to one year, valued at $7.2 million. This contract, known as the Bridge to MARKETS II, is intended to provide continuity between the current MARKETS I project and the upcoming MARKETS II project, which will be competitively awarded in fiscal year 2011. Chemonics International, the incumbent contractor under the original MARKETS Project contract, will carry out essential activities during this period to ensure a smooth transition and maintain support for agricultural development efforts. The contract period covers three key phases: from January to March 2011, the contractor will establish baseline indicators to evaluate the MARKETS II project and assess outcomes from the 2010 growing season while preparing for the 2011 planting. From March to September 2011, Chemonics will support farmers in planting and harvesting key crops such as rice, groundnuts, sorghum, sesame, and maize. The final stage from June to September 2011 will focus on transitioning to the new MARKETS II contract. The contracting office is USAID/Nigeria in Abuja, with Kingsley Ebule serving as the Acquisition & Assistance Specialist point of contact.
