The Buena Vista Creek Restoration and Disadvantaged Community Stewardship Planning Project is governed by Streambed Alteration Agreement No. EPIMS-SDO-55271-R5, executed by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) for the City of Oceanside. Pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code, the project focuses on the ecological restoration and enhancement of 6.72 acres, which includes 4.79 acres of stream habitat. The scope of work encompasses debris removal, the removal of invasive and non-native vegetation, channel enhancement, bank stabilization, native revegetation, and upland restoration. Specific habitats targeted for restoration include southwestern willow riparian forest, southern willow scrub, southern coast live oak riparian forest, mule fat scrub, and Diegan coastal scrub. The project is located at Buena Vista Creek in the City of Oceanside, San Diego County, near the intersection of Thunder Drive and Lake Boulevard. In addition to environmental restoration, the project involves removing an unregulated trail network from the riparian area and establishing a formal trails and recreational area outside of the riparian corridor.
