Buffalo Pass Commercial Pre-Thinning Project. This is a set aside for those contractors who have a current BLM Fuel Reduction IDIQ contract for CLIN 0008 The purpose of the project is to reduce insect and disease incidence in understory and midstory, to reduce hazardous ladder fuels to allow for long-term stand management using fire and to improve winter range habitat. This project consists of 750 acres of hand thinning with lop and scatter and hand piling treatment on Unit 17 (25 acres). The project areas are located on the Saguache Ranger District, Rio Grande National Forest in Colorado. The treatment units are located in all or part of Sections 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 22 and 23 in Township 45 North, Range 49 East. Projects maps are attached.
