This is a SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY. The purpose of this sources sought is for market research to gain knowledge of potential sources for future needs including interested small business sources. This notice is for planning purposes only. All interested parties should respond. Kansas Air Nationl Guard, McConnel AFB, Kansas, will soon be soliciting for a project for Building 35 Chiller Replacement.


Work shall consist of the following: Replace existing 80 ton chiller unit with new Trane 80 ton chiller with 134A refrigerant or equivalent.  The contractor will be responsible for the removal of the existing unit, including disposal of refrigerant, and installation of the replacement chiller ensuring that the new unit is properly grounded.  This may require the contractor to utilize a crane to remove and replace the units.  Update Direct Digital Control (DDC) system as necessary to correspond with new chiller unit.  The existing chiller is set on a concrete pad northeast of Building 35 that can be reutilized if the new unit final dimensions match the current size of the existing unit, otherwise it will be the responsibility of the contractor to expand the pads as needed. Electrical will be available and it is the contractor’s responsibility to ensure all panels / breakers are updated to meet the standards of the new chiller unit. Current power is 460V with 500 kcmil conductors.  New unit will utilize this electrical connection and voltage.  Water piping is 4".  New unit will utilize this size pipe.  


Additional information: 


  • Contractor will need to install a 4” T-valve to allow for the hook-up of a temporary chiller should the new units fail or require servicing.
  • Should concrete pad expansion be required, contractor to use reinforced 4000 psi concrete to match thickness and elevation of existing pad. 

For this requirement, the small business size standard is 19 Million for NAICS 238220. In the event small business contractors are not avaialble for adequate competition for this project, it may be advertised as unrestricted.  Complete and return attached sources sought form to include bonding capability and advise on your capabilities and or past perfromance in terms of the projected requested.
