INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW This statement of work will be issued under contract "Expand For Specialty Clinic Addition On 3rd Floor", Project # 503-314. 1. Background In 2002, the VA adopted a new program for identifying underutilized facility space. The program was named Capital Asset Realignment for Enhanced Services (CARES). Because of the guidelines set by the CARES program and continuous workload increases within our Specialty Clinic, there is a need for additional space. 2. Scope of Work The A/E will furnish design services, technical specifications, working drawings, cost estimates, as-built drawings, construction period services, fire reviews, energy reviews and site visits for Project No. 503-314, "Expand For Specialty Clinic Addition On 3rd Floor". The project will construct a third floor over existing second floor adjacent to the Specialty Clinic area. This is located on the southwest corner of Building 1. New construction will create an estimated 12,505 square feet of additional space to meet the 17% projected increase in demand for specialty care services at the facility, and will allow the medical center to expand the specialty clinic space adjacent to the third floor specialty clinic space of Building 1. Plan to use maximum insulation, energy efficient windows, lighting and HVAC. The project is to improve patient and employee environment and increase patient privacy. This project improves potential compliance deficiencies with safety standards. With providing adequate space, items will tend not to be stored in other functional areas that could result in safety accidents. The new space will also improve infection control measures. This project is for the addition of approximately 12,505 square feet for Specialty Functions. Proposed breakdown will be considered: - Cardiology (approximately 3,586 gross square feet) - Digestive/GI/Endoscopy (approximately 2,056 gross square feet) - Eye Clinic (approximately 2,442 gross square feet) - Pulmonary/Respiratory Care (approximately 1,978 gross square feet) - Specialty Care (approximately 2,443 gross square feet) The exact space allocation remains to be determined. 3. Additional Objectives For all renovated and new space, the A/E will be required to provide net and gross square feet polylines on CAD drawings around each space and gross square feet polylines around each department according to the Capital Asset Inventory for the project. A spreadsheet shall be completed by the A/E, detailing the net, gross, and departmental square feet; and totaling each for the project. The A/E is also to provide a design for a solar array. The A/E shall provide a design that ensures complete emergency back-up power for all new and renovated space designed for this project. The A/E is to provide a design that will connect the new third floor to the existing third floor such that people can walk from the existing third floor to the new third floor and vice versa without leaving the floor.
