AI Contract Overview
The Defense Logistics Agency is conducting market research through a Sources Sought Synopsis to identify qualified manufacturers capable of producing multiple items for the Patriot Weapons System, with procurement anticipated under FAR 6.302-1(a)(2) due to a limited number of responsible sources. The acquisition is centered at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, and requires firms to obtain source approval from the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center’s System Readiness Directorate, Sustainment Division, as technical control is maintained through specific AMC codes such as 3C, 3B, 4B, 4C, and 4N, which dictate engineering source approval, unique test capabilities, and compliance with DoD-STD-100 for item identification and traceability. The NAICS code 334412 applies, and the government seeks participation from small businesses including 8(a), small disadvantaged, service-disabled veteran-owned, HUBZone, and women-owned firms, though no formal set-aside is currently designated. Offerors must be prepared to manage end-to-end manufacturing, including supply chain logistics, long-lead procurement, obsolescence mitigation, recurring and nonrecurring engineering, and final delivery, bearing all associated costs without government reimbursement for response preparation. The acquisition involves technical data subject to strict export controls under the Arms Export Control Act and Export Administration Act, with any classified requirements requiring appropriate security clearances. Responses are voluntary and do not constitute offers or commitments, and no funds are available for preparation. The closing date is tentatively set for May 19, 2026, but may change based on the timing of a future solicitation. Foreign firms must route inquiries through their respective embassies. While no formal solicitation exists, inquiries for source approval should be sent to the designated email, and compliance with UID and marking standards implied by DoD-STD-100 is expected. Payment, accounting, and delivery details remain unspecified pending a future procurement action.
