AI Contract Overview
The Department of Defense, through the Mission & Installation Contracting Command Theater Support Center, on behalf of the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), is soliciting proposals for a prototype Caisson Wagon to enhance memorial affairs operations at Arlington National Cemetery. This project is governed under the Other Transaction Authority for Prototypes as outlined in 10 U.S.C. § 4022, with the government planning to award a single firm-fixed-price agreement. Successful completion of the prototype may lead to a sole-source follow-on production contract for additional wagons, reflecting the critical need to replace the aging fleet currently used in honoring fallen service members. The solicitation invites all businesses to participate, but an award can only be made if all significant participants are small businesses or nontraditional defense contractors. Proposals must adhere to the detailed instructions in the RPP documents and be submitted electronically by July 13, 2026, with questions due by May 26, 2026. The contract work will take place in Arlington, Virginia, and interested parties can contact designated government officials via the provided email addresses for further guidance. This effort aims to create a sustainable, long-term solution to support the vital ceremonial mission of The Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery.
