Solicitation 1267T020Q0026 is a total small business set-aside issued by the USDA Forest Service, Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, for the hauling of approximately 150 spruce or fir trees. The project requires transporting whole trees, ranging from 30 to 50 feet in height with a maximum diameter of 12 inches and estimated weights between 500 and 2,000 pounds, from National Forest System Roads 42 and 49 near Slater Creek to First Creek along Routt County Road 80 in California Park, Colorado. Due to the lack of unloading equipment at the destination, the use of a sidedump trailer or a standard dump trailer without a tailgate is recommended. Performance is scheduled for a critical window between August 10 and August 14, 2020, with deliveries starting at unloading area B. While a Forest Service crew will utilize an excavator with a thumb attachment to load the trees, the contractor is responsible for providing all other necessary equipment and labor. This procurement falls under NAICS code 115310 for Support Activities for Forestry. Amendments to the solicitation extended the proposal deadline to May 14, 2020, and removed the requirement for bidders to submit a proposed method for transporting trees on narrow Forest Service roads.
