A 1.62-mile section of US-12 from I-96 easterly to Cass Avenue in Detroit, Wayne County, will undergo comprehensive road reconstruction including hot mix asphalt pavement, geometric improvements, storm sewer installation, concrete curb and gutter, sidewalks, ramp upgrades, traffic signal upgrades, and new signing and pavement markings. The project also features the installation of a dynamic inductive in-road charging system, integrating advanced infrastructure for electric vehicle support. A five-year materials and workmanship warranty on the pavement is required. Prime contractors must be prequalified in specific subclassifications—Cb, Ea, J, K, and L—and if not qualified in any of these, they must engage prequalified subcontractors whose identities must be designated before contract award. The solicitation, issued by the Michigan Department of Transportation, has a posted date and response deadline of September 4, 2026, and is open to qualified bidders under the state’s procurement system.
