The TramGO project, initiated in 2013, aims to establish a new tramway line connecting the western part of Gatineau to the downtown areas of both Gatineau and Ottawa. This initiative responds to anticipated significant population and employment growth, current traffic congestion, and substantial interprovincial mobility needs. The tramway is designed to address the absence of a major structured transit mode in western Gatineau, which currently relies mainly on heavily congested roads, bike lanes, and bus networks that inadequately meet present and future transportation demands. The planned tramway route includes a shared segment and two corridors covering the northern and southern areas of Aylmer, with station and terminus locations identified through detailed analysis by the Tramway Gatineau-Ottawa Project Office (BPTGO). In 2024, the BPTGO engaged the services of the Groupe Porteur consortium to assist with preliminary studies, including the preparation of an environmental impact assessment for submission to the Bureau d’audiences publiques sur l’environnement (BAPE). As part of this effort, the Groupe Porteur supports soil environmental characterization and the management of contaminated soils. The current contract, titled "Campagne 2026 de forages environnementaux – Lots 1, 2 et 3," issued by the Société de Transport de l'Outaouais under the Government of Canada, seeks to hire three firms to conduct soil data collection activities such as drilling, laboratory analysis, and data compilation, while interpreting the results and creating figures will remain the responsibility of Groupe Porteur. The solicitation was posted in January 2026 with a response deadline in February 2026, and the work is to be performed in the Outaouais region.

Full Description
