AI Contract Overview
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is conducting market research to identify potential vendors capable of supplying a CBr4 Gas Delivery System used for carbon doping in molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) grown devices. This effort is categorized as a Sources Sought announcement, strictly serving as a preliminary market tool rather than a request for proposals or quotations, with no current obligation for the Government to award a contract. NIST aims to gather information on manufacturers, including both small and large businesses in the United States, to determine the best acquisition method. If the research identifies at least two qualified small businesses, the procurement may be set aside for small business competition. Respondents must provide detailed information such as company names, country of manufacture, technical specifications, delivery lead times, and relevant past experience, limiting their responses to no more than four pages. This contract opportunity is classified under the NAICS code 334516 for Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing and is managed through NIST’s Acquisition Management Division within the Department of Commerce. Responses are due by June 15, 2026, with submissions directed to the Contract Specialist via email. The procurement will ultimately be conducted on the System for Award Management (sam.gov), after NIST completes the analysis of the industry feedback. The location for performance is Boulder, Colorado, and the requirement is still in draft form, subject to change before a formal solicitation is issued. No quotes or proposals are being accepted at this stage, and proprietary information must be clearly marked in the submission.
