Sole Source Synopsis Reference: CDC-85799 This is a notice of intent to sole source. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); 2920 Brandywine Road, Atlanta, GA 30341; in accordance with FAR Part 13.106(b) and 41 USC 253 (c) (1) intents to solicit a single source for the Procurement of Strain Gauged Rock Bolts. The CDC intent is to sole source the following requirement to Golder Associates, Rock Mechanics Technology, Ltd. The North American Industry Classification System code is 334519, with a small business size standard of 500 employees. The intent of this procurement is to acquire services for the modification of rock bolts (to be provided by requisitioner) which will ultimatley allow for the determination of load distribution in a bolt and measurement of bending stresses in the bolt. The result will be a bolt that has multiple strain gauges and allows for the detailed measurement of tensile and bending stresses along the length of a fully grouted roof bolt. This procurement demonstrates a unique and innovative concept to provide this particular research and the CDC believes that this is the only company that can provide this procurement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any firm that believes it can meet the requirements may give written notification to the Contract Specialist on or before 1:00 pm EST on June 18, 2009. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail, to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. All questions must be in writing and must be emailed to Candice L. Simmons at iie3@cdc.gov. Please reference CDC-85799 Strain Gauged Rock Bolts on all correspondence. Responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the CDC will proceed to sole source this requirement to Golder Associates, Rock Mechanics Technology, Ltd.
