CDFA Nursery Inspection Program FY 25/26

On June 10, 2025, the Tulare County Board of Supervisors entered into an agreement with the State of California Department of Food and Agriculture to fund the County of Tulare Agricultural Commissioner’s Office for the Nursery Inspection Program for the 2025/2026 fiscal year. The primary objective of this program is to prevent the introduction and spread of agricultural pests through nursery stock, thereby protecting local agriculture and consumers from economic losses associated with the sale of defective or pest-infested stock. The project is classified under NAICS code 113210 and is certified as exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act under Public Resources Code Section 21080(b)(4) and categorical exemptions 15307 and 15308. This exemption is based on the program's role in regulatory actions to protect natural resources and the environment, supported by a Final Program Environmental Impact Report and adherence to established CDFA management practices and mitigation measures. Coordination for the program involves key county planning personnel, including Gary Mills, Jessica Wills, and Christopher P. Greer.
