The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is initiating the Central Basin Groundwater Pilot Utilization Study to install three monitoring wells designed to track groundwater elevations and enhance water resource management within the Central Basin aquifers. Two of these wells will be situated on LADWP property at 518 W 78th St and 5848 Miramonte Blvd, while the third will be located on West 67th Street near South Main Street in Los Angeles, California. The final depth of each well will be established following the review of lithological logs from pilot boreholes. Each work area is estimated to be approximately 12 feet by 200 feet, utilizing existing roads for access and material storage to avoid the need for grading, grubbing, or tree removal. Construction activities are not expected to require street closures. This project is classified as a forecast and has been granted a categorical exemption under CEQA Section 15306, as it is designated for basic data collection and resource evaluation. Marshall Cyr serves as the primary point of contact for this environmental initiative.
