Naval Medical Center San Diego intends to award a sole source contract to LDR Spine USA, Inc. for the procurement of a 2-level ACDF for cervical disc replacement. This procurement is being conducted under statutory authority 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) and FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), as the government has determined that the proprietary nature of the implants required for specific patient anatomy makes LDR Spine USA the only responsible source capable of meeting its minimum needs. The required implants must be FDA approved for treating multiple levels of cervical disc disease, feature self-locking plates without screws, and adhere to California Compliance requirements. Additionally, the vendor is required to provide on-site support. This requirement falls under NAICS code 339113. While this notice serves as an intent to award rather than a request for competitive quotes, interested parties were given until April 11, 2016, to submit their capabilities for government consideration.
