The Commodity Futures Trading Commission intends to renew its contract with the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority for the use of the SmartBenefits transit system. This system allows the agency to enroll, withdraw, and manage employee transit benefits across multiple modes of transportation in the Greater Washington DC area. Due to the unique nature of the Metrorail and Metrobus systems, the government is pursuing this as a sole source procurement under FAR 6.103-1, as no other providers can offer the same integrated funding management and regional transit access. The proposed contract consists of one base year and four option years, totaling a five-year period of performance. While this notice is not a formal request for proposals, the government will accept written responses from capable sources until September 1, 2026, with an anticipated award date of September 10, 2026. The procurement is categorized under NAICS code 485111 and is managed by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission office in Washington, DC.
