AI Contract Overview
The Department of Labor intends to sole source a subscription service for current month price data on chicken eggs and select seafood to Urner Barry (Expana) under FAR 6.302-1, citing that no other source can meet the agency’s requirements. The procurement will secure aggregated, weighted average pricing for chicken eggs across six U.S. regions—Northeast, Midwest, Southeast, South Central, Northwest, and California—with breakdowns by egg size categories including Jumbo, Extra Large, Large, Medium, Small, and Breaker stock. Prices must be calculated based on wholesale transaction volumes from processors selling to retailers, wholesalers, distributors, exporters, importers, traders, and brokers, reported in $/dozen, and derived from the first fourteen days of each month. For seafood, the contract requires similar weighted average pricing for tuna, shrimp, crabs, lobster, clams, oysters, sea scallops, and mussels, all based on U.S. domestic wholesale transactions during the same timeframe. Shrimp pricing must reflect headless, shell-on conditions from Gulf of Mexico catches, while lobster and crab values are for live product on a less-than-truckload basis. Seafood prices are to be reported in $/pound or $/count depending on the product. The solicitation number is OAA-26-00299_A, with a response deadline of July 3, 2026, and the point of contact is Shayla Battle, with Sarah Rachel Sprinkle as secondary. The NAICS code is 541990 and no set aside applies.
