The item is classified as a critical application and electrostatic discharge sensitive device, necessitating strict compliance with DOD-mandated ESD and EMI protective packaging standards per MIL-PRF-81705. All packaging must utilize qualified barrier materials from manufacturers listed on QPL-81705, specifically Type I converted bag barrier material for both ESD and EMI protection, and Type III barrier wrap if ESD-approved cushioning is not otherwise specified. The supplier must employ an approved ESD control program per MIL-HDBK-263, operate an authorized ESD workstation as defined by MIL-HDBK-773, and ensure all personnel are trained in grounding and handling procedures to prevent damage from electrostatic or electromagnetic field forces. No deviations from these requirements are permitted. The item must be packaged and preserved in accordance with MIL-STD-2073-1E using preservation method GX, with physical and ESD protection applied to all leads, terminals, and protrusions to prevent breakage or bending. Marking must comply with MIL-STD-129, including the special marking code 39 to denote ESD sensitivity, and palletization must meet DLA Packaging Requirements.
