City of Bishop West Line Water Main Project

The City of Bishop is undertaking the West Line Water Main Project to replace approximately 2,025 feet of aging 8-inch steel pipeline along State Route 168 from Home Street to Main Street with a new 12-inch ductile iron pipeline. Originally designed to use C-900 PVC pipe, the material was upgraded to ductile iron at utility crossing points to enhance protection against potential contamination, following coordination between the design team and the City. The project also involves installing multiple isolation valves along the existing 12-inch water main extending west from the Home Street intersection toward Well 4. These valves are positioned to comply with American Water Works Association standards for valve spacing and to support future connections to the water main, improving operational flexibility and system reliability. The work is being performed within Bishop, California, and is managed by the City’s Public Works Department under the direction of Nora Gamino.
