Class LSJ - SDV Medical

Contract SPE2D1-25-D-0006 is a five-year Electronic Catalog agreement managed by DLA Troop Support for the procurement of Intuitive Surgical da Vinci robotic surgical systems, including related instruments, accessories, software upgrades, and maintenance services. SDV Medical serves as the exclusive authorized distributor for these systems to the Department of Defense, Veterans Administration, and other federal agencies. The contract has a maximum ceiling value of 360 million dollars, with performance primarily located in North Carolina. The procurement is executed as a sole-source award under FAR 8.405-6(b)(1) because the da Vinci system is the only FDA-cleared robotic platform meeting the government's requirements for urological, general laparoscopic, gynecologic, and thoracoscopic procedures. Due to the proprietary nature of the hardware and software, only the original equipment manufacturer can provide necessary upgrades and technical repairs. This sole-source justification remains valid unless the FDA approves a competing system that meets the government's minimum requirements, at which point future orders must be competed.
