This project aims to address the flood damage at the site by remediating the washout areas, constructing drainage channels to better handle future water flow, and constructing protective measures to prevent future floods from entering the site/structure. Work to remediate the washout areas includes debris and material removal/disposal and replacement of washed-out granular materials to original grades. Work to construct new drainage channels includes site grading for construction of new rock drainage swales and construction of two new reinforced concrete swale inlet aprons. Work items included in the new flood protection structures includes placement of 500 mm dia. rip-rap to enhance existing shoreline protection and construction of a reinforced concrete fishway wall extension with stop log support blocks and drainage passthroughs (complete with galvanized steel trash racks). Other work items include three new movable wooden stairways, removal/modification/reinstallation of existing chain-link fencing and metal handrailing, supply/installation of timber stop logs, establishment of a new vertical control benchmark in the existing concrete staircase, site restoration and cleanup, and any other items noted on the drawings/specifications.
Familiarization with Site:
Before submitting a bid, it is recommended that bidders visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense and schedule, to review and verify the form, nature and extent of the work, materials necessary for the completion of the works, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account of error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.
The contractor must take all appropriate safety measures prior to conducting any site visit.
The Contractor must perform and complete the Work by March 31st, 2026.
