The 2nd Contracting Squadron of the Department of Defense is pursuing a sole source procurement for Compact Metal Detector V2.0 units and battery chargers under solicitation FA4608-11-Q-0126. This requirement, categorized under NAICS code 334519, is designated for CEIA USA, LTD, as they are determined to be the only source capable of providing the necessary equipment. The procurement is conducted under FAR 6.302-1, citing that the manufacturer has no authorized distributors and no other available supplies or services can satisfy the agency's specific requirements. The equipment is intended for Explosive Ordnance Disposal flights within the USAF Global Strike Command due to the device's unique capability to detect non-metallic conductive improvised explosive devices. As a commercial-off-the-shelf product, the procurement is justified under statutory authority 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). While this is a notice of intent to award rather than a request for competitive proposals, interested firms wishing to challenge the sole source determination must submit an interest letter demonstrating equivalent capabilities to Stephanie Treadway at Barksdale Air Force Base.
