Cohasset Forest Resilience Project – SNC 1378

The Cohasset Forest Resilience Project (SNC 1378.1) is a grant agreement amendment funded by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy and implemented by the Butte County Fire Safe Council. The project is located in Butte County, California, specifically near Chico and the communities of Campbellville, Richardson Springs, and Forest Ranch. This amendment modifies the original scope of work to address recovery and restoration needs following the Park Fire, which caused significant loss of vegetation and left many trees dead or dying. The expanded scope of work includes mechanical pile burning, directional felling, bucking, lop and scatter, decking logs, and herbicide treatments. These activities are designed to reduce future fire intensity, prevent significant erosion, and manage the regrowth of invasive species. The project is categorized as exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) under Section 15304, Class 4, for minor land alterations. Administrative oversight is provided by Mary Akens of the Sierra Nevada Conservancy and Taylor Nilsson of the Butte County Fire Safe Council.
