VI. Additional Questions & Answers 1. Boat 2807 already has the grating installed for Item 0001. It does require some additional brackets to be installed to stabilize the grates. Is this what we will be quoting for Item 0001 on Boat 2807? o Yes, just brackets for launches with grating already installed. 2. For Item 002, with regards to painting of the bilge, is the bottom of the Rope Ladder considered part of the bilge that will need to be painted? o No 3. Item 0005 Modify Engine Deck Hatch Drain System. It appears this item was copied from a previous spec on earlier Survey Launches. The deck drain system does not have any hoses and all drains discharge directly overboard in their current condition. Photo 141034.jpg shows an example of the current installation. Should this Item be removed from the bid? o No, the engine hatch and rear deck hatch gutter drains still need enlarged even if it is hard piping. 4. Item 0007 Replace Aft Lazarett Hatches. The bid states "NOAA will provide fabrication drawings (including additional under-deck support as needed)". Can you provide these drawings? o Yes, see attachment, Fabrication Drawings. 5. Item 0008 Deck Non-Skid. What color non-skid do you want? o Gray 6. Will each launch be on its own trailer? o No, there are no trailers or cradles for the launches. The contractor will have to provide these if the launches will be transported on the roadways. 7. Item 0002. How thick is hull plating? Spec's call out for 5086 H32, or H34 Aluminum our suppliers have 5086 H116 but can supply no information on plating required? This item also indicates Launch is this for one (1) launch or all four? o Alloy 5086-H116 represent sheet and plate materials equivalent in all properties to 5086-H32, with an additional requirement of full compliance with Interim Federal Specifications QQ-A-00250/19. Compliance With these specifications requires testing and control procedures which check that the sheet and plate as received by the customer is predominately free of continuous grain boundary networks which could be susceptible to exfoliation or severe intergranular corrosion in some applications. So, H-116 is a suitable alternative. All four launches require plating to be cropped and replaced at the bilge area. VII.
