Computed Tomography (CT) Scanner

NASA Marshall Space Flight Center is acquiring a next-generation computed tomography and digital radiography (CT/DR) inspection system to replace its 17-year-old legacy system and restore critical nondestructive evaluation capabilities for additive manufacturing, composite materials, and failure analysis. The system must accommodate objects up to 60 inches in diameter and 60 inches in height, weighing up to 3,000 pounds, and deliver imaging resolution of no more than 139 microns using a digital detector array and 400 microns using a linear detector array. Performance must meet or exceed ASTM E1695, E2737, E2698, E3375, and E2597 standards, with data stored in non-proprietary, lossless formats such as .TIFF and DICONDE. Final acceptance occurs at NASA’s facility in Building 4707, Huntsville, Alabama, following successful Factory and Onsite Acceptance Tests using certified test phantoms. The contract is a firm-fixed-price, lowest price technically acceptable (LPTA) award under a total small business set-aside, with NAICS code 333248 and a size standard of 750 employees. The system must include a comprehensive safety system with interlocks, emergency stops, and radiation shielding, and deliverables include full technical documentation, test phantoms, and compliance with DD Form 250 reporting. Delivery is required by June 30, 2027, under FOB Destination terms, with initial delivery to NASA’s Central Receiving Facility and final installation in Building 4707.
