AI Contract Overview
Argonne National Laboratory is seeking qualified contractors to provide non-destructive concrete and masonry scanning services on an as-needed basis to support construction, maintenance, inspection, and modification activities. The work involves using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and complementary detection technologies to locate embedded elements such as reinforcing steel, post-tension cables, electrical conduits, mechanical piping, anchors, plates, and voids within various concrete substrates including cast-in-place slabs, walls, beams, columns, decks, concrete masonry units, precast elements, and overlays. The primary objective is to mitigate risk prior to activities like drilling, coring, cutting, anchoring, or demolition, thereby ensuring safety and preserving existing structures without causing damage. Contractors must provide experienced technicians equipped with appropriate tools, follow clearly defined scanning limits, and mark detected items using approved temporary methods. Deliverables include detailed field sketches, photographs, annotated drawings, summary reports, and requested digital files. Compliance with Argonne, OSHA, ESH, and DOE safety requirements is mandatory, including coordination for permits, escorts, and restricted area access. Service requests may come with short notice or emergencies, requiring flexible scheduling. The award will be based on a Lowest Price, Technically Acceptable (LPTA) evaluation, and proposal packages should include signed copies of the ANL-70 RFQ and ANL-70A Representations and Certifications forms. The solicitation, identified as 6-B185-Q-00205-00, is managed by the Department of Energy at Argonne and is based in Lemont, Illinois.
