Old Mission Road is a north/south major urban collector in Volusia County consisting of a two-laned rural crowned section with limited to no shoulders. The existing right-of-way varies from 100 feet to 150 feet. Old Mission Road and West Park Avenue intersection has a multi-use trail that crosses in an east/west direction along the north side of West Park Avenue. This safety improvement project begins south of West Park Avenue and ends at Josephine Street/10 Street (total length of 1.84 miles). The pavement will be widened to the west and transition back to the existing intersections to provide safer connection points. The proposed rural typical section includes two 11-foot travel lanes with 5-foot outside shoulders on both sides and concrete sidewalk on the east side of Old Mission Road. Resurfacing and overbuild will occur along the existing SB and NB travel lanes of Old Mission Road starting at the Church of Christ driveway entrance heading north and terminating just north of the intersection with Josepine Street. The existing roadway pavement from West Park Avenue to south of Eslinger Road will be converted to a multi-use trail using resurfacing and overbuild (Sta 2006+61.29 to Sta 2050+25.73). All driveway lengths will terminate at the right-of-way line.
