The Alexandra Bridge is crossing the Ottawa River in the National Capital Region (NCR) of Canada. This bridge provides passage between Ottawa, Ontario and Gatineau, Quebec and is the second most used bridge by active modes and a key public asset for the region. PSPC is the current steward and custodian of the asset. The Bridge carries approximately 13,300 vehicles per day based upon City of Ottawa 2017 traffic counts (9% of the average daily interprovincial vehicular traffic in the NCR). It is used by about 33% of all pedestrians and cyclists crossing the Ottawa River. It has been in operation since 1901 and has a long history of repairs and modifications. To ensure that the bridge is maintained in safe condition, PSPC has programmed rehabilitation and maintenance projects, including the Alexandra Bridge Boardwalk Timber Deck Replacement & Articulation Retrofit project
