The Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Consortium hosted an Industry Day event on February 22-23, 2018, in Crystal City, Virginia, aimed at engaging industry and academic partners interested in supporting rapid prototyping efforts to counter WMD threats. This event focused on addressing requirements set forth by the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense (JPEO-CBD) and partnering agencies, aiming to advance technologies that enhance understanding of the WMD operational environment and improve capabilities to control, defeat, and dispose of such threats, while safeguarding personnel and improving coordination among CWMD entities. The event offered participants opportunities to hear from key government officials, including the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, attend breakout sessions, and engage in one-on-one discussions to explore collaboration avenues under the CWMD Other Transaction Agreement (OTA). Held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Arlington, Virginia, the Industry Day featured a structured agenda with opening remarks, keynote presentations, consortium business updates, and sessions on leveraging OTAs for procurement. The event required prior registration, limited to 200 attendees with preference given to CWMD Consortium members, and included both general sessions and scheduled one-on-one meetings. Attendees were provided logistical information, including parking availability and check-in procedures, and could coordinate further inquiries through designated CWMD Consortium contacts. The event served as a critical platform for fostering partnerships to accelerate innovation in countering WMD threats under the Department of Defense’s acquisition and prototyping initiatives.
