Full Description

The purpose of this amendment is to provide further information regarding USA-SNOTE-070813-005 for Crewman`s Kit BALCS GEN II SPEAR Plates size medium and large. Under the authority of 6.302-1, the U.S. Army RDECOM Natick Contracting Division, Kansas Street, Natick, MA, on behalf of the United States Amry Soldier Systems Center, Natick, MA intends to negotiate and award a purchase order for 9 sets of size medium BALCS GEN II SPEAR Plates for use in the Crewman`s Kit, 34 sets of size large BALCS GEN II SPEAR Plates for use in the Crewman`s Kit, and 172 MSAP 6x6 Side Plates for use in the Crewman`s Kit from Ceradyne, Inc., 3169 Redhill Ave., Costa Mesa, CA. This is a one time purchase for these items. The required delivery date for these items is 19 Octo ber 2007. Currently, Ceradyne is the only tested and authorized source by SOCOM for the BALCS GEN II Ballistic Plates for use with the Crewman`s Kit. Equipment being purchased is required to support outfitting a small number of newly assigned personnel at an undisclosed Special Operations unit. The unit personnel growth is based on Quadrennial Defense Review approval in support of the Global War on Terrorism. The newly assigned personnel require the same kit that was fielded to other personnel assigned to the unit as this kit fielded has been tested, validated by configuration and approved for use by the Commander and/or Higher Headquarters. Deviations from the approved configuration are not authorized without going through a complete testing, validation and approval process.
