Cuyama Well Waterline Repair and Re-Route

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is preparing to repair and reroute a compromised waterline that currently crosses from state-owned land through private property. The portion of the line running across private land will be left in place and decommissioned, while approximately 3,600 feet of new waterline will be installed entirely on state-owned land to ensure long-term operational integrity and regulatory compliance. Construction will utilize trenching and directional boring techniques, including bore pits along an existing dirt road and a critical bore beneath State Route 166 to avoid surface disruption and maintain public safety. The new infrastructure will seamlessly connect to existing water delivery systems serving a cistern, wildlife pond, and multiple wildlife troughs, ensuring continued access to water for native species and ecological needs in the region. All work is planned to minimize environmental impact while maintaining service reliability across state-managed natural resources.
