The contract entails the full implementation and ongoing maintenance of NIST Special Publication 800-171 cybersecurity controls to safeguard covered defense information within a defense contractor environment. This includes establishing, documenting, and sustaining technical and administrative safeguards aligned with the NIST framework, ensuring compliance through regular assessments and accurate reporting of control effectiveness. A critical component involves the management of Plans of Action and Milestones to address identified weaknesses, track remediation progress, and demonstrate continual improvement toward full compliance.
