Environment and Climate Change Canada has a requirement for the Decarbonizing Pathways for Canada’s Agriculture Sector as detailed in the Statement of Work, Annex “A” to the bid solicitation. The period of the contract is from contract award to March 31, 2025, inclusively.
The objective of this project is to:
a. Identify current and possible pathways for decarbonization.
b. Identify the infrastructure needs for the decarbonized equipment, including an analysis of capital costs, electricity demand and capacity, typical grid connection type, carbon intensity of electricity sourced from utilities, and any necessary installation and maintenance of on-site power generation (i.e., solar, wind, hydrogen, etc.) and storage.
c. Identify challenges and market barriers to the adoption of zero-emission technologies and clean fuels for agricultural equipment in Canada.
d. Compare the cost, GHG emissions and air pollutant emissions of comparable fossil fueled combustion, clean fuels combustion and zero-emission agricultural equipment.
e. Identify the current market availability of technologies identified in the pathways for decarbonization (Canada, North America, Europe, Asia, etc.)
f. Identify equipment utilization/operation profiles, including operation site(s) location(s) and typical infrastructure availability, operation duty cycle(s), typical operation load(s).
