Fuels Removal by Hand Treatment in the Deer Creek area of the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.This will be an acreage-based contract for 116.5 acres of fuels removal. The project work requires the pruning, cutting and treatment of small trees and shrubs via hand tool techniques deemed most appropriate by the Contractor. Tree prunings, shrubs, and small trees will be Chipped-in-Place or hand piled in preparation for burning by the Forest Service. In Chipped-in-Place units all cut material will be treated by chipping. In Hand Pile Units, trees and limbs larger than 4-inches in diameter which have been cut in units will be cut in 3-foot lengths and neatly piled next to the hand piles. Until Final Acceptance of Unit or Work, cut wood is property of Contractor. Upon Final Acceptance of Unit or Work, ownership of firewood resorts to the Forest Service which may permit removal. Option 1: In units not scheduled for Chip-in-Place, if the successful bidder can propose a low pressure or low tire pressure machine method of chipping the cut materials, an additional payment per acre will be paid. Solicitation will appear here on or about 05/27/09. A "pre-bid" site visit will be held on 05/27/09, at the Lee Canyon Site. This will be the meeting site for two projects. This one, and the Lee Canyon Hand Treatment project being advertised concurrently. The meeting time will be 0930.
