Virginia Hunters Who Care, Inc. of Big Island, VA was selected for a sole source purchase order award under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) based on the justification in the file. They are a unique non-profit organization that works with numerous meat processors in VA to facilitate donation of venison to charities and local food shelves. This facilitation of deer processing service supports the Wildlife Services Deer Management program in Virginia. The contracted services are not considered inherent governmental functions or personal services. The Virginia State Office has been aware that Virginia Hunters Who Care has numerous long-time relationships with deer processors across the state. The state office was not able to find a deer processor to contract with directly for this work. This notice is an intent to Sole Source.
