From January 1, 2012, through December 31, 2013, ER SE Mechanical Engineering is tasked with utilizing its facilities, personnel, and external services to enhance existing Concepts of Operations for D5 motor storage at Camp Navajo. This includes designing a new prototype Support Equipment (SE) aligned with the refined CONOPs and assisting in demonstrating these concepts and equipment on site. The development involves creating a new D5 FS/SS low-boy trailer, transition plates, a PAC hose adapter, and a modified TS Dolly that can interface with the existing C4 MTP. Additionally, ATK will provide supplementary FS and SS trailer demonstration options, supported by Lockheed Martin through an Integrated Demonstration Plan and draft procedures. While Lockheed Martin will not procure the developed equipment, acquisition will be managed by an external government entity. The goal of the contract is to validate a proof of concept for the transportation, handling, and storage of the first, second, and third stage D5 rocket motors at Camp Navajo. The effort also encompasses participation in periodic program reviews, teleconferences, and coordination efforts for transferring existing D5 SE from ER to Camp Navajo to support the demonstration. The contract, identified as the Definitive Cost Plus Fixed Fee Proposal for Camp Navajo Demonstration (solicitation number F1747), is managed under the Department of Defense's DCMA Space Enterprise office in Sunnyvale, California, with primary performance at the same location. The designated point of contact for this effort is Bob Thompson.
