AI Contract Overview
This contract involves the sale of deformed expended small arms casings, specifically in calibers .50 caliber, 5.56 mm, blanks, and 7.62 mm. All brass casings have been visually inspected and processed through a specialized Army Peculiar Equipment (APE) 1408 M1 munitions deformer, which renders the casings unusable for their original purpose and unsuitable for reloading. The casings are packaged for shipment in gaylord cardboard boxes, each containing 2,300 pounds of brass, with the weight of the boxes and pallets excluded from this total. Due to a shortage of the required gaylord boxes, the successful bidder must bring 16 boxes along with bottom slips capable of supporting up to 2,500 pounds. Failure to provide these will result in a replacement fee of $200. The contract is issued by the Department of Defense, specifically the Jf Hq W8AC Miarng Element, with the place of performance in Grayling, Michigan. The solicitation number is QRP26-M102, with a posting date of May 8, 2026, and a response deadline of June 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Points of contact for the contract include Josh Thomas and James Gee, both reachable via email and phone. This procurement falls under a sale-of-surplus category, with no set-aside requirements noted. The contract location for administrative purposes is Lansing, Michigan.
