The Purpose of this requirement is to purchase Dell 2160AS PowerEdge Server, Dell 4220 42U Storage Rack and additional equipment per the attachment. Dell brand name equipment is being requested as an approved organization Enterprise Architecture solution currently being utilized to house and support IHS server equipment. The requested Dell brand equipment allows for continuity and compatibility with existing equipment (servers, rails, etc) in regards to the management and support of IHS critical servers. The purchase of other brands at this point would result in a poor fit of the Dell servers into a non-standard rack, the ability to manage each rack of equipment with non-standard KVM switches and an increased learning curves, duplicate work efforts and increased administrative costs.
