The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) hosted its 4th Annual Industry Day on November 17, 2010, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. This full-day event, running from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., was designed to provide industry representatives with advanced acquisition planning information across various DHS components. Panels moderated by the respective DHS Heads of Contracting Activity focused on specific acquisition strategies and requirements, creating a forum for DHS to communicate its needs and encourage competition. The event was open to federal contractors of all sizes and sectors, including representatives from Small Disadvantaged Businesses, 8(a), HUB-Zone, Service Disabled Veteran Businesses, and Women-Owned Small Businesses. Attendance required prior registration with a two-person limit per company, while a webcast option was made available for those unable to attend in person without the need for registration. This outreach effort aimed at increasing industry awareness and participation in DHS contracting opportunities. Questions and additional information were directed to Bob Jeffers, the designated point of contact for the event, associated with the Contract Administration Services Division of DHS. The Industry Day supported acquisition planning activities governed under NAICS code 611710 and was a critical opportunity for contractors to engage with DHS's procurement process.
