Design Review DR26-20

The City of Marysville is overseeing Design Review DR26-20 for the Hop Sing Association property located at 113 and 113 1/2 Elm Street within the Chinatown area of the Downtown Marysville Specific Plan Area. This project focuses on the aesthetic and structural enhancement of the site, including a front fascia remodel, exterior repainting using historic colors, and a refresh of the front and side fencing. A primary component of the work is the construction of a decorative brick perimeter wall that will feature a ceremonial entry gate and a moon gate. The project is managed by the Marysville Community Development Department and is designed to be compatible with and enhance the cultural setting of the adjacent historic resources in Chinatown. It has been granted environmental exemption status under CEQA Guidelines Sections 15301 and 15303(e), as the work consists of minor alterations to existing facilities and the construction of small accessory structures.
