The County of Volusia is soliciting professional engineering design services to prepare comprehensive construction contract plans, specifications, and any necessary special provisions for the widening of Williamson Boulevard from a 2-lane rural road to a 4-lane divided rural section. Key components include widening the existing bridge over I-95 (Bridge No. 794095), modifying median openings at several cross streets, and possible solutions such as re-striping the current bridge for northbound traffic and constructing a new bridge to handle southbound lanes. The contract requires extensive coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation District Five for review and approval of construction documents. The work is managed by the Engineering & Construction office in Volusia County, Florida, and the primary contacts for this project are the Civil Engineer II Project Manager, Dennisse Zornan, and the Procurement/Contracts Manager, Shaira Resto. The County of Volusia is seeking the services of professional consultants to provide Professional Engineering Design Services to prepare a complete set of construction contract plans, specifications, and special provisions, if necessary, for the widening of Williamson Boulevard from a 2-lane rural section to a 4-lane divided rural section from Madeline Avenue heading south to Town West Boulevard to match and tie-in with the existing 4-lane typical section at Madeline Avenue heading north to Beville Road. The purpose of the project is to increase the capacity of the existing corridor. Only the roadway improvements within Williamson Boulevard right-of-way will be part of the County's project and will include widening the existing bridge (Bridge No. 794095) over I-95 to accommodate this corridor widening project. Modification to full median openings at Town Park Drive, Willow Run Boulevard, McGinnis Avenue/Hockney Court, and Town West Boulevard will be required. Consideration shall be given to leaving the existing bridge (Bridge No. 794095) in place, reconfigure the existing lane striping to accommodate two traffic lanes and shoulders for northbound traffic along Williamson Boulevard and construct a new bridge on the west side of the existing bridge to accommodate two traffic lanes and shoulders for the southbound traffic along Williamson Boulevard. In addition, extensive coordination is to be anticipated with FDOT District Five for review of all construction related documents.
