The Dillard Road Bridge over the Cosumnes River is located approximately 0.2 miles south of the intersection of Dillard Road and Jackson Road (State Route 16) (Attachment 1).  The bridge is a two-lane structure, approximately 350-foot long and 34-foot wide structure.  The purpose of this project is to provide scour countermeasures for pier 3 by placing rock, also known as rip-rap, around the base of the pier footing.  The project will also install scour countermeasures at Piers 2, 4, 5, and 6.The work to be performed under this contract includes the furnishing of all labor, materials, and equipment for:Providing scour countermeasures at Piers 2, 3, 4, and 5; and the construction of a temporary access road and temporary trestle to reach Pier 3 during construction.  At Pier 3, Class IX two-ton riprap will be embedded at a minimum depth of 9 feet and extend 24 feet in all directions around the pier.  On Piers 2 and 4, magnetic sliding collars will be attached to the face of the pier with rods driven or augured a minimum of 24 feet into the streambed.  On Pier 5, a scour chain and bead monitor will be installed.Other items or details not mentioned above that are required by these Special Provisions shall be performed, placed, constructed, or installed in accordance with the Standard Construction Specifications and these Special Provisions.  The construction, materials, and workmanship for items of work on the plans, but not specifically mentioned in these Special Provisions are referred to the Standard Construction Specifications for conformance.
